Ever since learning to play the cornet at age ten, and later the guitar at age thirteen, Gareth Heritage has endeavoured to make his passion for music central to his life.
Having spent most of his early life studying popular music, Gareth has made the pursuit of music academia his life ambition. Indeed it is because of his passion fuelled ‘acquisition of knowledge’ ideology and soulful enjoyment of music, Gareth particularly enjoys studying specialist areas such as the technology, education and business of music. However Gareth’s true passion is rooted within the study of popular musicology, encompassing its culture and sociology.
Throughout his life Gareth has gained numerous qualifications in music including the International Baccalaureate, Bachelor of Arts with Honours degree and the (postgraduate) PGCE in secondary school music education. Gareth is currently working towards completing his Masters and endeavours to one day gain a PHD.
Gareth’s interest in music education is further reflected by his professional occupation as a teacher, and having spent three years working in state education, Gareth is now involved in teaching and managing music technology education in the most successfully achieving state grammar school in England where he relishes the opportunity to introduce and develop student’s understanding of music, music technology and the generic humanistic artistic/creative nature.
Gareth has spent most of his life writing, performing, analysing and recording music. During 2007 Gareth’s last album Transcending Death was commercially released on I-Tunes as well as other music download websites. Currently Gareth is working on another album for release under his Heritage of Rock Records label; Dark Matter is preliminary scheduled for release sometime in 2012.
